IMO the concerted effort to kill Bitcoin was in December 2013. It failed, and costed the ones trying to kill it a hell of a lot of money. Now it is just riding the waves, waiting for big news. 'till that, we will hover between 900-1000, and sometimes just outside that.

But once the big news hits, we will find a new level to hover on.
