I have been through this many times. Here is the most likely scenario if the trial is halted early. The DMC notifies the company directly. SEC requires that news of this impact must be released within 3 days. Usually, the news is released early in the morning before pre-market trading. At the same time trading will be halted to prevent order imbalances. The stock would probably open for trading close to 10:00AM. So, you are not going to get a jump on the market. Just check once a day before 9:30. Sometimes, if there is a leak, options trading will spike the day before or so. So, you may want to keep and eye on the options volume.
