#55383 RE: early retirement #55369

early retirement: NeoMedia does "own the barcode-to-webpage bridge". But, this one just further clarifies the SPECIFIC reference to camera cell phones.

"NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: NEOM - News), an innovator in wireless services and patented technologies that provide mobile marketing-enabling automatic links to Internet-based information, said today that it has been awarded a patent covering the capture and processing of bar codes explicitly from camera cell phones."

That is what I'm trying to figure out too and no one has been able to answer that. My take is that those previous patents that were supposed to give us the bridge were "LOI's" only and not real until the latest approval today. LOL.

early retirement, my take on it is this. NEOM IP (prior to today's new patent) does cover the bridge. Tight. And not "just" as they apply to camera phone reading of barcodes. What I think this new patent brings to the table is a hands-down slam dunk confirmation that yes, NEOM IP covers this IP as it applies to camera phones. Camera phones were covered before, as defined in the earlier patents..now this patent clarifies and spells it out in no uncertain terms. IMO, this brings any challenges to the IP applied in this way to a screeching halt...ie ScanBuy. This patent also dilutes the argument that a few have presented in saying that NEOM IP has to be "proven" in court. I think this patent spells it out, plain as day. IMO any attorney who wanted to challenge this application before, would not proceed with this patent being granted.

JMHO, and maybe clawmann, lupetto etc can weigh in from the legal standpoint.
