Just be thankful you are a non-professional investor a "guru". I think that the average hedge fund gained about 5% this year, that is the ones that have not closed. And then something like 95% of all Mutual Funds can not beat the market. It isn't easy for the "professionals" is it? The market is a tough foe to out wit.
I would argue that we have a lot better situation. We have no one to answer to except our wives, and managing a smaller amount of money is/should be easier than billions. We can turn our portfolio on a dime when needed, they can't.
My #1 goal has always been, Beat The Market. We have lots of charts that can do that. The SPY IRA strategy is almost guaranteed to beat the market. Yields could be negative, but still beat the market.
