Yes... They originally were exempt for 3 years... Then wanted to continue the exception for another 3 years as it would have cost them an additional large sum of money approx $3,800,000 to make occupant crash protection compliant. Not including the time involved. It's just like with the original s351 production that the engine was no longer compliant so they stopped the production and is lays why a "2000" model year s351 was produced on a 1999 chassis.

They were granted again in in 2006 for 1 year on automatic restraint system and 3 years on advanced. Now, if I am correct in saying that Steve left in 2007 and could that be the reason for never developing an air bag system for the s7 and also the end of the production? Also originally they were going to try to use some of the ford airbag systems (ford gt) since they did the assembly for ford but since the ford gt system did not meet the advanced air bag requirements that was not able to be done. For testing purposes they would have to crash test several s7's which is why they cost would be so high but also the development of the system itself.

I'm not disputing what losses they have had or are having but again rebuilding the company is going to take time and $$$.

We will see what happens as I know that there is a lot more to come from saleen and if everything falls into place it will all work out in the end.
