Hello Rayo.

"The initial focus of the partnership will be to weave and test Monster Silk-based textiles for near-term applications."

near-term [neer-turm]
adjective
for, covering, or involving the very near future.

I would be inclined to believe this is the reason certain NDA's were signed by various companies interested in MS (in certain sectors).

"First pick the low hanging fruit." There will be less demanding uses that they can and will target first. Those should take less time (unless there is a problem just getting MS to weave and knit at all, which is possible). So we could see a product fairly soon but there is no guarantee.

Hope for something quick but be prepared for a long wait.

Ray I dont bother to share the things I hear when I talk to Ben or Kim because the things shared are normally blown out of context in the following 20 posts, but back in November after the comment was made I wrote to the company to ask for a comment about what C.H. said about time. For what its worth here is what I was told.

"My understanding is that Charlie Howland was referring to military applications, which is Warwick Mills’ specialty, and not mundane applications.
I thought that was fairly obvious, but I believe that in the future he will remove that doubt, by saying that the mundane applications are fairly straightforward."
