KKR employs many of the same business tactics as the Berkshire Group. When the KKR team left behind their private equity mindset and decided to raise capital to become a publicly traded limited partnership in 2010, what they were really seeking was access to leveraged capital markets, imo. Closed networks have limited access to public leveraged retail markets.
