I've done more reading on the subject and will concede that a majority of mobile devices appear to be limited to about 300 meters on a clear, and noise-free day. That said, looking at Wialans range and connectivity table on their spec sheets, they appear to account for the limitation. Their AP signal range transmits up to 250 and 400 meters respectively, within the maximum transmission range of what most mobile devices can transmit to.

I'm not sure what their Customer Premise Equipment is but if I had to guess, it sounds like a distribution of repeaters to boost the AP signal beyond the 400 meter mark for low gain devices. I would also speculate that the increased range would be beneficial for sprawling but densely populated areas like airports or marinas...

One last thing I'll say on the subject, regardless of whether you think their technology is flawed, it's out there in the real world, already working...
