the Quant-trading blackboxes do NOT take into account fundamentals, changes in fundamentals, or news events that occur instantaneously...but they Do the bulk of trading on any given day...often churning 80% or more of the volume, ending the day with a near-zero share-position change...imo
Yesterday the Street.com opined that IDCC was experiencing a dead-cat bounce, and fundamentals mattered little, blah blah blah...
While some consider these trading computers "smart"...personally I see them as "fatally flawed"...and when the dead cat awakens (cats Do have 9 lives ya know)..well lets call the experience "fatally clawed"...??!
