Tenchu, they have to break back down, but the like of BRCM always move at two to three times the market rate, I would on a break back under $16 it is safer to short than here. Of course, if the market turns down around here, that will be quite ominous (ajtj does not believe in triple tops, and statistically, he is right, but on the rare occasions we might get them, the descent may may be fast and furious....). Why go after a snorter when you have the like of GM, MMM, INTC, KO and PG not too far (all less than 5%) from a safe stop and with just as much potential to fall (particularly KO whicvh I think could sing to the low to mid $30 and GM revisit the $30 area or maybe even breach it a little).

tenchu , wait a bit on brcm watch the sox and general nasdaq if it show s continued strength .stay away if they start moving lower dont hesitate to scalp a bit . give your self a day or two more before entry as wednesday should be a day of interest for taking sides of this market . i personally avoid snorters but watch them with interest . i watch second tier stocks that mimic the big boys . not quite the volatility without the head fakes and shake and bake. smagli

Hi Tenchu: I'm always on the lookout for new and helpful T/A terms. [I coined the term Hook-the-Schnook-rally.] Just recently on this thread I've repeatedly heard the term "snorter." I went to my dictionary: nothing. So I did what I always do when I'm perplexed. I stood on my head and meditated. Eureka! I kept hearing "rip-snorter." But what the hell was a rip-snorter? So I asked my trading partner Dortmunder. He told me that "snorter" referred to a rip-snorting rally. "But dortmunder," I cried, "isn't "powerful rally" or "strong rally" the same thing?" "Indeed," he said. But, Tenchu, back to the nub of your question: "How do snorters lose their snort?" The answer my dear fellow is simple; snorts are lost the same way anything is lost; one forgets where one placed it. Try looking under your sofa cushions. If you don't find your snort I promise you'll find a few quarters, dimes and other items that have been missing. Or ask your wife. Around my way Suzy goes through my pockets all the time. If I had a snort in a shirt or pants pocket, she'd take it. I'm glad I could be of help.
