But there is more than just weakness in the FDa's contention. The fact is the FDA's assertion contradicts the opinion of the ACCE (clinical endocrinologists) which recommends adding trig lowering drugs to statins in dyslipidemia. Though the FDA is charged with guarding the population against unsafe food and drugs and testing the efficacy of new drug...it is not charged with formulating medical opinion and its policies should reflect excepted medical standards and not contravene them. The FDA is clearly abusing its power here.
