I had wondered about that too - if a patient doesn't receive chemo for 3 years, how much cheaper is the vaccine? I hadn't heard of someone being on chemo the rest of their lives. That doesn't sound pleasant.

Under the Affordable Care Act, the cost to the patient should be the same - whatever his out-of-pocket maximum is. But the insurance companies will be our allies once the vaccine is approved. Even if the SOC is to do chemo with the vaccine initially, if the vaccine is working, the patient can forego future chemo. That will be cheaper.

The drug companies selling chemo might not be as thrilled as the insurance comanies (and patients) to see an effective cancer vaccine. Once one looks commercially viable, the buyouts should begin.
