#39892 RE: chrisbaskett #39880

Chris and Arch... I also appreciate our present monitors and their efforts here. However, I don't think adding more monitors is the right solution.

I've just re-read the User Agreement and the rules really do appear broad enough to provide the monitors good support for deleting posts....

Instead of more monitors, maybe we all can be deputies and help the current monitors do a better job by being more specific with our TOS violations....VIZ refer to and include the specific rule(s) that are being violated.

That could make it a lot easier for the monitors to decide what the concern actually is and they won't have to guess or interpret why someone is TOS'ing someone.

Most of the repetitive negative posts fall under the (9) spam and (10)personal attacks rules, as well as the broad general rules about civility, respect, and insightful value added to the community here.

For example, Stockhldr101's recent posts easily fit under the "Spam" rule:
o Continually posting the same or similar information;
o Posting statements that do not add value to the discussion;
o Posting excessively on one or more message board(s);

Besides violating the "Spam" rules, other obsessively negative posters generally violate the "personal attack" rule as well:

o Posting harassing or otherwise objectionable content on another poster;
o Calling another poster names or being vulgar;
o Not staying on topic with the current investment discussion, but instead focusing on an individual poster.

The most notorious posters with their slick talent to twist and quickly redirect away from the topic provide great TOS examples of how they "...instead focusing on an individual poster"...

Just when you slam all the doors to their illogic and unfounded distortions...they quickly twist the discussion onto the other poster.

New posters are a different problem. I usually know from their first few lines what their game is. I normally prefer to Ignore them immediately and save my time and energy.

Given's Matt's recent statement and support for his monitors I just might start reading all the posts and have a TOS party....lol!

In any case, I don't think more monitors is the answer.

Clearly stating the specific TOS offenses will hopefully help the monitors do a better...and faster...job deleting posts that, according to the general rules, "...clearly detract from the value of this community".

Monitors...I'd value your opinions on this. Would specifying the specific TOS violations make it easier and better for you to do your job?

One last item... If I were to add anything to the rules it would be a simple yet very blunt...."Prove It or Shut Up" rule.

This rule clarification would eliminate most of the obsessively negative defaming and disparaging posts that freely assault DNAPrint with distorted or fradulent statements without providing any proof, links, references for further discussion or verification.

Without something like a very specific "Put Up or Shut Up" rule, we are left to try and define such unsubstantiated attacks as "clearly detracting from the value of this community"...

TIA,

Robert

>>Matt, I agree with Arch, the moderators we have are good if they are allowed to take out the trash.

Okay, Moderators, err on the side of deleting too much for a while. I'll keep a close eye and if I disagree, I'll let you guys know.

When I say that, don't go nutty. Just anything that attacks another user, is spam, etc. Don't remove someone because they are simply negative.

Let's give it a whirl. Oh, and any Moderators aren't going to be active, it appears there are a few that'd gladly take your spot (Dr F, keep dreaming), so let me know.

Further, anybody that has a problem with deletions or another user, take it up with me. Do NOT post it here.
