I've noticed that at SI too. Used to belong to that site back in 1998-1999. Had to pay for a membership back then granted, but it wasn't too bad.
Jefferybraun's complaints about the moderator over there are indeed legitimate. Perhaps he couched his a little more diplomatically than mine, but I think there are serious questions to be raised about a moderator who over at RB had 16000 posts to his credit over FASC alone.
Going back to your previous comment about the complaint level and the percentages you posted of legit and illegit flaming, the one site that I think has it right at present is Stockhouse.com/Stockhouse.ca That place has been around for some time as well, used to be a free-for-all and the discussions are still pretty open, but overall a clean forum with little spamming and/or vulgarity which I believe is automatically censored from a post anyways.
And if people want to start and moderate their personal forums that's an option, but company forums remain under the purview of site administrators and the discussion can be alot more balanced. I'm sure you guys here have good intentions in the way you enforce TOU, but I think when it comes to financial discussion, personal attacks along the lines of calling people on their nonsense is just part of the process. Money, after all, is an emotional topic for most.
