Agreed. They do not need to care about shareholders for any reason. I know for a fact they do care about the stock price. For one they want the stock price to rise and two many people have been paid in shares and they own many shares themselves. We will see dips and spikes until something significant happens but it will explode eventually and I'll be here when it does.
