Meteors and asteroids are the most likely candidate to cause some major problems in a short geologic time. The spectacular impacts on Jupiter not too long ago was an indication of just how close they come in each of our lifetimes. We are due for another direct hit between now and 10,000 years.
Mars has shown it once had an atmosphere to support life as we know it. The search for G class Star systems and planets revolving around them has so far pinpointed a few dozen. Too far away to get much more info. we are advancing technically so fast that it is quit possible we can answer the mysteries of the universe in the next 100 years. Will that include and understanding of God? Will we eventually be able to alter our own lifespan to 1,000 of years? Will we play with genetics to alter the evolution of man?
If only our evolutionary baggage, emotions, would be tamed before we get much further as a species. Who knows.
As an aside, talking markets: retail sales cause the latest rise in yields on 10 year note. Believe it or not but the data is pretty darn conclusive we are getting back to our old ways, good or bad. Soon the debate of a crash coming would be as a result of too good economic activity. we do love to speculate on a crash.
