Two interesting points:

(1) In 4 Billion years our sun will expand
until the Earth becomes part of the sun.

(2) Recent studies of very deep caves indicate
the Earth had extremely high temperatures to kill off
all life on the surface.
This has happened at least 6 times.

Today is a very small part of the whole picture. IMHO.
