#6849 RE: x993231 #6848

The Corporate Minute got all the info necessary within a short amount of time. I guess its a net positive if it does what it was supposed to do. Jury still out on that. Personally, I found the voice kind of cheesy but maybe that is just me - I hate the big sale and like to see genuine enthusiasm from the board and management - this strikes me as merely acting. I do really like the new website and am still reading it link by link. It is more of a succinct presentation which is optimal for today's rushed pace. Most people dont have the time to figure it out - they need to be spoon-fed the info and I think this web site does a better job of getting that message across.

Here is my question: A few years ago Terry Turpin said something that seemed a bit odd to me. In summary, he said that computers were meant to be analogue rather than digital. To me it seemed to completely invert my understanding of data processing/computing.

We get a little bit of that right here from the new web site under Optical Computing. What do you folks think about the idea of an analogue computer - what does that really mean?

Thanks,
WISEGUY

Digital computers are optimized for functions such as numeric calculations, but efficiently handling complex images can be vastly improved by the use of highly specialized computers that function entirely within the optical domain without the need for optical-to-digital conversions.
