GREAT FIND! The homepage gives more information:

--------------------------

VMatter is an entirely new class of matter that resulted from NASA funded research at California Institute of Technology. At room temperature VMatter is a frozen liquid, a vitreous matter. VMatter, a fortuitous mixture (alloy) of four exotic metals, is also known as Liquidmetal®. Most of the weakness and imperfections of normal alloys are found between grain boundaries. By eliminating grain boundaries altogether, VMatter becomes 2.5 times stronger than steel while retaining the best properties of metal and glass while reducing their individual limitations.

Both forged and Damascus steel represent 1,000 year old artisan techniques, learned through trial and error, to minimize the effects of grain boundaries. If Damascus steel is folded 300 times, VMatter is effectively like Damascus steel being folded millions of times. Damascus steel is highly regarded by chefs. Top German and Japanese brands produce knives made from Damascus steel priced from $1,000 to $2,500. VMatter knives are simply superior to even the finest Damascus steel knives.

VMatter’s disruptive technology has already been tested and proven over the last decade being utilized in products made by some of the largest companies in the world. Mercedes-Benz AMG Division and Ford Motor Company coat the cylinder walls of their highest performance engine blocks with an amorphous alloy coating. VMatter even out performs tungsten in tank armor penetrating munitions. Now, this level of performance has been incorporated into VMatter Cutlery.

This must be result of a new contract! GLTA

WOW/// I also missed your post...posts were coming in so fast and furious those days, it was hard to keep up..so I had to jump some...that will teach me...you found GOLD....Those knives could open MANY doors. And in the culinary arena...they have to be at the top of the list. This is leaving me feeling almost as dazed as the "LQMT sheet patent". TOTALLY unexpected.

A little disappointing is the fact that the guys from VMATTER don't name "Liquidmetal" in the promo video. AAPL could also avoid using the term... so the public would never get informed what technology is used in their devices! What do you think about that?
