I understand what deafcone is saying... Buy your shares before the 9th and get the dividend, but if you sell them, you also sell the dividend right with them. But you can also get the dividend buying VDSC after the 9th because you're buying someone else's shares who originally had the dividend entitlement attached to those shares. So bottom line, continue to buy up to the 12th.

Now that sent a charge threw me. This is going to be Epic. VD$C. No Brainer.

I would have assumed that buying VDSC by EOD on the 9th i would get divined but if I sell before the dividend is distributed that the buyer would get the didivend and not me. I don't see how they could force me to owe the dividend, but i do see where the dividend that would have been mine gets transferred to the new buyer if I sell before the distribution date.
