Government created Fannie and Freddie, built it into one of the most successful companies in the world, then it went private. It was successful for years until the leaders got greedy and ripped off billions of dollars, then government took control and its the most profitable company in the world again.
Government ain't great, but they're the only reason this company ever existed and still exists.
