Actually, Fannie and Freddie are the final bagholders here from bad implementations from our government. They were encouraged to take on more and more risky investments that couldn't be sustained and finally broke down under the pressure. Politics caused the breakdown and politics are preventing a recovery. Government needs to stay out of business.... they suck at it. Look at the debt.
