#193 RE: bacc #192

This new proposed refinery in La Salle, TX has nothing to do with Blue Dolphins' refinery in Nixon, TX but it goes to show just how much of a game changer domestic shale production is to the O & G business overall. Things are changing globally.

Our small Nixon refinery sits right in the oil patch so costs to transport the oil to ours is minimal. I don't know what transportation costs from the Middle East to our Gulf coast refineries is for example (I'm sure it's high not to mention environmentally risky going across oceans in ships) but I do know that to transport crude from the Bakken up in North Dakota down to the refiners in the gulf adds between $10 ~ $12 @ barrel.

This cost savings is what will give the BDCO refinery a profit margin advantage when it gets up to full capacity.

On this Memorial Day I'm glad that we're not as dependent on foreign oil as we once were!
