UABGrad, what we need to keep an eye on is Amazon. People have mentioned it before but i just wanted to refresh everyones memory that it was rumoured not so long ago that Amazon was going to enter the online movie rental business in the US. So far they have not done anything with that. However, Amazon has an online movie rental business in the UK. I can see GameznFlix being a great acquisition for Amazon. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION!

heres Amazon's UK online movie rental website....

Amazon to do online movie rentals; Netflix stock plummets

From the article linked to in the headline:

"Our customers have encouraged us to offer low-priced online DVD rentals, but we have no announcements to make at this time," Amazon spokeswoman Patty Smith said

In the understatement of the year, the article finishes with:

"Looking forward, Netflix said it anticipates an increasingly competitive market in the coming year."

I love Netflix. I've been a customer for years. I've met the people inside the company, all of whom I respect, a few who I call friends. But that doesn't change the fact that they have no clear strategy to maintain a competitive advantage in a market segment they created.

I wrote a more detailed analysis (The Future of Netflix is Uncertain) on my perspective on the future shape of online movie rentals, and, have additional thoughts on why Netflix is underestimating Blockbuster.

Hope it does. But where do you come up with $30 a pop?

Also while whatever it is, might be mostly profit, it also has to be weighed on what the space/time etc is worth compared to others, and not just what margins can come from their stuff, but how much can be made on the back end.

Volume rebates, co-op, damage allowances, warehouse allowances, and whatever else they can dream up once someone like a CC is VERY important to you as a supplier.

Don't get me wrong, I'm on the side of the little guy, just realistic based on experience.
