I spoke to Amarin about revenue recognition. It seems when under reliant they recognized revenues when products left warehouse. See sales chart first 2 years. 1st and 2nd month of every q lower than last month of previous q. They had a huge spike above month 1 and 2...This continued with the 3rd month exceeding previous 2 months setting new record for sales.
Now I asked AMRN if they are recognizing revenue based on sales to customers or sales to distributors. They said they have not made that decision yet. It makes more sense to me to recognize revenues when they ship it. Imagine for example you are the distributor for Home Depot and you ship lumber to home depot but you dont count revenue till the actual customer walks out with the lumber out the door. In a sense all this script counting is the same thing. In the home depot example everyone would be counting how many 4x4s were sold or whatever the sizes are.
If amrn is recognizing revenue for items shipped I can tell you we are on track to do 3 million this month so they might of shipped 2 mill of products last week.
Let me know what your thoughts are on this but as I said as of 2 weeks per AMRN no decision made on this.
