This Grand Challenge is a multi-stage event, spanning a 5-year period.
Round One

1 Open request for Proposals (short, non-confidential submissions)

2 Selected respondents will be invited to provide more in-depth and comprehensive proposals

3 Up to 20 respondents will be funded with CAD$500,000 in seed grants. CCEMC will announce the winning respondents at a CCEMC-sponsored technical event.

This first phase of Round One is open to all eligible applicants. Everyone with ideas or technologies that meet the Grand Challenge criteria and objectives is invited to participate by submitting a brief (1-3 page), non-confidential proposal.

Participation in Phase 2 is by invitation only. The highest ranked respondents will be asked to provide a more comprehensive proposal.

Phase 3 is a technical event that will be sponsored by the CCEMC. During this event, up to 20 respondents will each be awarded with CAD$500,000 in seed grants. In addition to technical talks by each of the funded groups, there will be opportunities to network with other Grand Challenge partners, industrial groups, investors, and the Judging Panel members.
Round Two

1 Groups have 2 years to develop their proposed technologies. Groups submit regular progress reports and/or provide demonstrations throughout the 2 years.

2 New entrants are invited to submit proposals relative to Round Two. Click to see criteria.

3 Up to 5 groups will be funded with an additional CAD$3 million in development grants. CCEMC will announce the winning respondents at a CCEMC-sponsored technical event.

In Round Two, funded groups have 2 years to develop their technologies. Regular progress reports will be provided to the CCEMC.

In addition, new entrants demonstrating performance relative to Round Two criteria will be invited to also submit proposals. The Round Two call for new proposals engages participants who have developed their technology independent of the CCEMC Round One funding.

A technical event will be held at the end of the 2 year development period. CCEMC will announce up to 5 groups that will each receive CAD$3 million in development grants to reduce their technologies to practice. As with the previous event, there will be technical presentations and opportunities to interact with other participants.
Round Three

1 Groups have 2 years to fully develop their proposed technologies and demonstrate a clear path towards 1 megatonne net reduction of GHG emissions. Groups submit regular progress reports and/or provide demonstrations throughout th2 years.

2 Groups submit final reports, business/commercialization plans, and provide demonstrations.

3 One group will be selected to receive a CAD$10 million grant to fund technology commercialization. CCEMC will announce the winner at a final CCEMC-sponsored technical event.

In Round Three, the finalist groups will have 2 years to fully develop their technologies. Regular progress reports will be provided to the CCEMC. During the final, Round Three CCEMC-sponsored event, the winning technology will be announced. The winning group will receive a CAD$10 million commercialization grant to assist in bringing the fully developed technology to market.

can it get better.im sure they will get a slice of that pie

And canada has alot of carbondioxides to tranform.
