Yup not the best way to make your name as the reporter who proudly broke a false story without verifying the source and the voracity first.

The guys in Dallas find that accusation amusing.

I personally find it amusing how many people really don't understand how journalism works. If you're interviewed, you don't know who else the reporter is talking to, or what else the reporter's found out. The final story is often as big a surprise to the interviewee as it is to other readers.
