David, just because it says - eTrade doesn't mean "eTrade" (the company) invested. It means that eTrade holds in a "beneficial" capacity for retailers who hold accounts.
Same for JPM -- doesn't mean "the company" held shares invested, but more likely that they hold as "beneficiary" for IRAs, 401ks, and other items inherited (ahem) from WMB.
This is EXACTLY the same reason by which we all had to vote/release through those "beneficial" owners -- as it is actually THEIR name on the ownership of the securities.
This VERY normal. Nearly every security you own, if in a brokerage account, is not in your name. It's held by your brokerages "for the benefit" of you.
