It`s unfortunate that Nokia, with the collaboration of the other EU complainants, recklessly threw the industry into turmoil. Pandora`s Box has been opened, and to mix metaphors, it will be difficult to get the genie back into the bottle. There was a royalty framework in place that was working, for all, but sheer fear of losing market share from competition in 3G, on the part of the arrogant GSM hegemony, has resulted in chaos. Now, the "law of unintended consequences" may rule the wireless world.
