Good answer! The situation as I understand is a positive view for common shareholders. CFIUS block: US invest more grant money and the technology, intellectual property etc stays intact.

CFIUS do not block: Wanxiang feeds money into A123. Shares rocket! Wanx win double whammy as they have many shares accumulated cheap.

Alternatively negative outcome: CFIUS block: Lower bids step in. Commons get Zero

CFIUS do not block: Wanx buys assets only, they've sold all the shares and Commons get Zero.
