#143352 RE: hogman_5 #143351

Yes, on start-up they scan the available 802.11 channels at 2.4Ghz and select a "clear" one and bond. But any more powerful WIFI router can take it from them at any time. This rarely happens in rural environments, of course, and is infrequent in urban environments. But it does happen in WIFI saturated downtown environments. Urban MAV's are just coming to grips with it. The present approach seems to be to simply boost up the watts and drive through the WIFI signal. Smartphones, however, only have .3 watts to work with and usually lose. As I said, your friend will be just fine at his lake house IMO. Argus apparently uses sat comms and HF for its flight control link. BiB only has its data link to worry about and that can be in the tether or RF. Fun, though, isn't it, HM? Best regards, IJO.
