Facebook was an IPO which is a very different situation. In any case if you bought FB I got to say that you are not very smart, I wouldn't touch that thing with a bamboo pole, that thing is worth like $10 maybe. With IPO's you would most likely consider the authorized shares for valuation since the company most likely intends to issue them all. In case of this particular stock you should also consider the authorized shares since its more likely that during an acquisition they might issue them all, but we don't know and the market cap is based on the issued shares. In any case the value and price are different things and you seem to be putting them together which tells me that you don't know much about investing.
