VC

Is this a fundamental requirement for every TPM manufacturer? If so, who is Verisign competing against for this key role? Its not clear to me how this impacts Wave ? Directly or indirectly by strengthening Infineon and its software side.

So it turns out that those IBM researchers at the Linux Symposium weren't as "whacky" as awk suggested at the time, and that Sean Smith, who did much of the early work on trusted platforms for IBM, was correct when he said in his book "the only thing that the TPM in the machines we experimented with appeared to come with was the endorsement key pair."

So these researchers are saying that these conformance certifications aren't being provided when you buy a TPM based Trusted Platform, or at least that was the case when they did their research. But this doesn't mean that the TPM is without value to me; I can still use it along with my ETS to encrypt my files and folders and such. And because trusted servers apparently aren't in the market yet the services don't exist that make use of remote attestation and attestation identities anyway. But I do wonder how my new machine will become trustworthy when that day arrives.
