I'm sure once liquidmetal is used in an Apple product, it'll be well known due to the interest it'll generate through the tech blogs... Mainstream news will pick it up, there'll be analysis of the material and other uses for it on science blogs etc.. It'll become well known in its own right, like Gorilla Glass..
Liquidmetal might not get much out of the deal financially at the moment, they have already had 2 lump sums now, but the association will be worth billions in free advertising and will result in instant recognition for liquidmetal. That doesn't factor a further deal after 2014, hopefully more favourable for Liquidmetal.. As Liquidmetal and Apple have over 20 joint patents, it would surely be in both companies interest to continue the relationship..
I wonder about these rumours of the iWatch.. If they were going to use Liquidmetal in a mass market product, I would imagine that it would be clever to first use it in something simple.. OK, you can't get more simple than a sim card ejector, but think about a liquidmetal wrist band (perhaps similar to a Rolex) linked to a liquidmetal body encasing the watch internals..
Small, solid linked liquidmetal pieces, and a liquidmetal frame shouldn't be too technical once they know where the electronics go.. Steipp mentioned that liquidmetal looks like polished chrome when it come out of the mold so it would look aesthetically pleasing without needing any further treatment..
It could be the first product to use liquidmetal extensively, once they have more experience making a mass market product with it, they could then move up to larger bodies like ipods, iphones etc... Just a thought..
The chart is looking even better now, another high volume up day and a close just above a trend line running across the top of the December peaks.. I don't usually bother with what happens intraday but it was interesting to see the sudden buying enter after 2.30pm. It's looking good..
On a side note, these bloody shockwave flash adverts keep crashing and it is driving me NUTS!
