If you read the link I provided you will see that he entered a plea of guilty to committing those 12 crimes. There is no mention of "scheming." He was, in fact, found guilty by the court and given a sentence of 15 years and placed on probation. He only stays out of prison if he doesn't violate the conditions of probation but he is still a convicted felon.
Some people end up on probation for crimes like manslaughter..... plea bargains are a fact of life and often have little to do with the seriousness of the crime.
Being convicted of a felony has nothing to do with controlling a public company unless it is a condition of the sentence.
