The problem is that it disables your AVG protection, at least mine greyed out and I didn't want to be on the Net without that protection.
If you don't want your AVG disabled while you are on the Net, go to grisoft's download page where you can download the updates manually to your desktop, then open the AVG program and hit check for updates and instead of choosing "internet" for the update, choose "folder" and browse to where you downloaded the update manually and it will install. When you have all the updates (in my case there were two I needed to download manually) your AVG protection will be active again.
