So clearly there were a number of people in China (ranging from Daqing Moringa itself to third-party institutional investors) who believed a RM between Daqing Moringa and CDBH was basically a done deal.

One could certainly assume a direct association, but one might also consider spinoffs and Joint Ventures as a possibility.

They never actually officially named the target. That's all I am saying.

Anybody can put up a website. I have actually seen a few posing as newspapers.

Floating a few trial balloons might certainly measure support in any case.
