It's amazing to me that this happens at this scope.

You are on point about Apple using Liquidmetal precenting a copy cat scenario from happening, but it wouldn't seem to deter the non-Liquidmetal knockoffs from selling as those buyers wouldn't care.

If the i5 (knockoff) is using a different operating system as the article states, and the buyers don't care then the material used to make the case would not deter them IMO.
