The fact is that StudentConnect's products only track when in proximity to the RFID reader. So no tracking would occur outside of the school/school bus. Everyone must remember that this is an optional program and thus will avoid those who are opposed of this from being forced to use the product. Simply put, if you feel this will invade your child's privacy, then you can choose to not use the product.

About mid way down the page, http://www.studentconnect.us/faq.html , you can see a picture/diagram explaining the simplicity of the system and that the only time being tracked is near the RFID reader.
