Govt. says "sorry", you messed up, "you trusted us". Hard to imagine that it plays out like that. De-chartering Sallie Mae didn't work like that, from what I can gather.

On the other hand, there is a group that want to see FnF go away, and since r-ship is "off the table", they will have to figure out a way to shrink them into oblivion. This has been their plan, but it hasn't worked out for them - by strangling the profits (i.e. low g-fees), they also have eliminated the competition.

Just look for profits to keep rolling in, and the rest will take care of itself.

I never said that. All I said is that inferring anything from FNMFO trades is a moot point. As for the future value of the preferreds you must add an unkown political component to your analysis, independent on how well the companies might perform.
