Fannie Mae Preferred S (FNMAS)

So is it now probable that F&F investments will result in a total loss? These companies are on the mend and will be out of debt within five years and they will simply walk away from the preferred stock they sold to purchasers who bought in good faith? They would be no better than those who simply walked away from their homes. They can do this without consequences? I simply don't believe it..
