That's selective reading. The same article said that Gartner estimate is 26K units per year, which would be about 6.5K servers per quarter. Even the more generous IDC estimate 8.4K servers per quarter does not seem to add up to 75K CPUs per quarter.

Charlie has an estimate of 220K to date (of earlier this year):

Anyway, Intel is not talking, the people who are talking are talking about much smaller quantities than your pie in the sky assumptions.

I agree with you that he should back up his claims, but Andy B. (Sun Employee #1, started 2 companies and helped finance Google) is a little more than a "Sun engineer", I believe he is their Chief Technical Officer and a billionare from his investments.
