I think complete responses would be huge news, but the more I read about Bavi the more I think that SD or "stable disease" in these ultra sick patients is a more realistic thing to expect out of the 9/7 conference. CRs in first line is a little more realistic IMO. That being said, if this drug combo can take even a small percent of refractory stage IV lung cancer patients and rid them of their disease I really can't imagine PPHM being in existence in 6 months...too much on the line for BPs.
I think that the way bavi employs the immune system to target tumor antigens offers a path to cleaning up the tumor "debris" circulating in the bloodstream after a main tumor has been destroyed by the initial bavi + chemo therapy. Peregrine has a protocol where bavi is continued after the chemo has ended. I think this is how "tumor immunity" can be established.
Bavi unblinds the immune system to the "foreign" cancer, which allows the immune system to destroy the cancer. I am looking for bavi to create some of this immunity for patients.
