i almost always use market orders for stocks i want to exit---unless i'm selling one going up. i take a haircut from time to time---but it's usually done at the bid or 1/100th lower. in any event, all you have to do is miss the market just once to the tune of a penny or so, and all those 1/100th of a cent haircuts will not matter. if you have time to exit, and let it sit, more power to you---when i make up my mind, i just want to get it done.
