In short: No it won't. Not even close. We've been over this several times already. I think a *realistic* view of what this technology is and where it fits will help people make more informed decisions.
What it won't do:
It won't replace your LCD on your desktop, because people do not want a wide cube-shaped box on their desk again like they had with their old bulkys CRT's. For the same reason, it won't replace your living room TV. It wont replace your mobile phone, if people still expect a phone to fit in their pocket. Same goes for your laptop display.
And refining the technology won't make the box thinner. The volume of the box is intrinsic to how it presents depth.
And it won't replace stereoscopic TV's either, because, unlike a stereoscopic TV, 3DICon's maximum depth portrayed is constrained to the depth of the box. (ie, it can't depict something 50 feet away like a stereoscopic TV).
What it will do:
It will offer an alternative complimentary display in the world of scientific + data visualization: medical, security, oil+gas exploration, industrial design, and some entertainment.
FWIW Im still long, but I try hard to stay realistic. I find these occassional posts about how it will replace sliced bread not very productive.
