#139212 RE: runandadd #139211

Waiting for lunch so I can reply. But I do need to do some work for the boss today! :<)

In short, you are right. But this is what the Army wants. The REF out of Fort Belvoir gets this stuff to the commanders as they describe they want it. But, for about two years now, persistent surveillance has been the big deal--and nothing does it better than LTAS--not space not fixed wing not rotary.

When my division was opened up I got someone from the Texas LE community on my team. He jumped right on LTA and hasn't let up. Even though I had done LTA and we had LTA assets, I was more caught up with HTA MAV. Only in the past six months have we seen what our Texan saw right away.

So, my advice is to think of the real product--persistent surveillance that is affordable. Shadow UAV's burn $10 per gallon aviation gas! Altitude helps, but these are not yet invisible. My boss is a light infantry officer and thinks in terms of tactics. He says there is actually an advantage to having the person on the other side of the shogi board see that you are watching them.

In short, you are now introduced to the filed of tactical LTAS. Tactics have to take care of most of the challenges. But persistent surveillance is worth having if ti is affordable. Now you know my strengths--WSGI has theater-level capabilities. My vision for WSGI is to integrate that into something no one else has seen before--from the stratosphere to the fox hole. Maybe you get it now. Dayton, early 1903--and I just bought into the Wright brother's bike shop!
