There is nothing like propagandist drivel entirely divorced from reality. The biggest single business down there responsible for the destruction of the wetlands is the Army Corps of Engineers with their massive heavy projects. If the Corps got more money, they would have revamped more parts of the levee to be like the segment of "model levee" at 17th street, where it broke! Obviously, there is still much in flood management we simply do not understand.
The "we do not fully understand or fully capable of coping with" part is what really scares the heck out of the wannabe prophets. 2000 years ago, a flood or fire would have the high priests casting around looking for the fornicators for stoning; today, the wannabe prophets of the new age socialist religion want to make human sacrifice out of their political foes. There is little change to those demogogues. Their most powerful weapon is the false belief that if and only if we human did diffrently, natural disaster would not have happened; by logical extension, if and only if you follow their prescriptions, natural disaster will not happen to you. It's a sweet tune to morons who can not comprehend the simple concept that, shit happens. Sometimes shit happens to good people.
