To All Journalists: Give Us a Timeline for the Katrina Disaster

By Steve Moyer

Al-Jazeerah, September 4, 2005

To: All journalists

I just searched Google News for a Timeline for the Katrina disaster and was unable to find one! Would someone please create a timeline so we can look at this disaster in an accurate way?

When did we know that Katrina was headed for the Gulf Coast?

When did it hit?

When did the levees break?

When did FEMA initially respond?

When did the National Guard arrive?

When were people told to go to the Superdome?

When were people told to go to the Convention Center?

When did the first food and water arrive at the Convention Center?

Those are a few events I want to see on the timeline for a better perspective. The fact that I couldn't find a timeline strikes me as curious, to say the least. This is basic journalism. Come on, people. Do your duty. Tell the truth.

This is the biggest natural disaster in American history.

Give us a timeline.
