#23161 RE: backtrax #23160

Maybe 9, if I was real easy on it, but not much more ...

A mis-matched, bored out small block with a lot of add-ons (tranny, gears, cam, heads) from a '57 built to run a short 1/4 strip. Got it all for almost nothing. He was going to restore the '57, and just wanted everything stripped out .. so I accomodated him! Had it all in a 64 Biscayne 2 door. I had to take it all apart pretty quick. Running on the street was killing it! LOL as well as my 'gas fund' .. and my 'ticket factor' was pretty high too! Sold it all to another guy to put in a '56, who was going to put it all back on the drag strip - where it really belonged.

My first wife had a 63 or 64 Olds Starfire with either a 425 or 455 (can't recall exactly). Her folks helped her get it because they thought an Olds was a good car for a young lady ... and had no idea they were buying her a rocket sled on wheels! Dang, that thing would haul. It had only a single 4 barrel though, as I recall .... It got about 11 or 12 MPG too.

The rear end gears in those old Olds must have been designed for quick hole shots .. Even with that old automatic, that thing would smoke the tires.

And the back seat was literally like a sofa! (or so I am told!)
