What was it, that got 8 MPG?
Even my '65 Olds Starfire (Factory-equipped 425Ci, dual 4-barrel carbs) got around 10-11 MPG. (I had it in 1970) I had some fun with running the dodge Datona Charger's, in my 'ol grandpa-styled Starfire.
